October 30th - November 3rd

We just finished chapter 4 in math.  We will start chapter 5, which is on fact families.  This is about how addition and subtraction are related.
*For art, Mrs. Wells would like the students to bring toilet paper rolls or one paper towel roll and pine cones if  you can for an art project . She only wants the cardboard roll inside, not the actual toilet paper or paper towels. ThanksJ

October 31st Our classroom Halloween party at 12:30
October 31st Halloween parade at 3:00 and parents are welcome. Students may wear costumes to school, but no masks, wigs, or face paints.  They may have colored hair.

Tuesday-Halloween costume
Wednesday- sport shirt/jersey
Thursday- crazy hat/ and or crazy hair
Friday- school shirt/school colors

CKLA-   We have learned about the sun, moon, stars, and constellations.  We are now going to learn a little about all the planets.  We were able to have Mr. Pace bring his planetarium to us yesterday.  It was awesomeJ and thank you Mr. Pace and his two college students who helped, for sharing their time and knowledge with our class.  We learned so much!!!
Homework-  Thank you for sending back the homework.  If you happen to forget, just have your child bring it back as soon as possible.  The next homework will be on Monday.
Home Reading-  Please read to and with your child each night for 20 minutes  five times a week.  This will help them recognize letters, sounds, and words while he/she is learning and expanding their reading skills.  October calendar is due the first week of November.

October 9th - October 13th

I really enjoyed meeting with each of you this past week.  Great things are happening in our class and I appreciate the wonderful parent supportJ  I apologize for not sending home the October reading calendar sooner, but I am sending it home today!!  I have a few students that sill have not turned in their September reading calendar.  Please do so.  If you have lost it I have extras, just let me know.

September 25th - September 29th


Just a reminder about the Fall Carnival tonight at Iron Springs from 5-8.  Please have your child bring a jacket every day.  I am really looking forward to meeting with you during SEP week.  I have the schedule on the back of this newsletter to remind you.  We just finished up chapter 2 in math on subtraction.  Your child can now add and subtract with numbers up to 10.  Quiz them and see how awesome there are at addition and subtractionJ

September 18th - September 22nd

The weather is changing.  Please make sure your child brings a jacket to school every day.  We go outside for break unless it is actually raining or snowing.  Thank youJ  In math we are working on subtracting numbers to ten.   See how well your child can add and subtract numbers to ten.  We have been working super hard in math and they are doing amazing.  Chapter 2 math test next weekJ

Birthdays-  If you would like to bring a treat to celebrate your child’s birthday that would be great!  Please remember it needs to be something packaged.  Have your child bring it to class and I will keep it until break at 10:40 a.m. or you can bring it in at about 10:40 a.m. We will do half birthdays for those who have birthdays in the summer.  We have 26 students in our class.  ThanksJ

 I will remind you in our newsletter each week of upcoming birthdays.    We will be celebrating Quinton’s birthday on Thursday, September 21st. Send invitations for parties only if everyone in the class is invited.  We don’t want anyone to feel left out.
