September 17th - September 21st

Please have your child bring a jacket every day.  I am really looking forward to meeting with you during SEP week.  I have the schedule on the back of this newsletter to remind you.  We will be finishing up chapter 2 in math on subtraction this week.  Your child can now add and subtract with numbers up to 10.  Quiz them and see how awesome there are at addition and subtractionJ

Dates to Remember-
September 21st   Fall Carnival @ Iron Springs from 5-8 p.m.
September 28th   First grade field trip to New Harmony
October 1st - 5th  SEP Week &  Book Fair

CKLA-   We are learning about the five systems in our body, which are the skeletal, muscular, nervous, digestive, and respiratory.  They are having so much fun while learning all of these amazing facts about their bodies.
Homework-  Thank you for sending back the homework.  If you happen to forget, just have your child bring it back as soon as possible.  The next homework will be given on Monday, September 17th and is due on Friday, September 21st.
Home Reading-  Please read to and with your child each night for 20 minutes  five times a week.  This will help them recognize letters, sounds, and words while he/she is learning and expanding their reading skills.   I sent home a September reading calendar last week.  A good place to keep it safe is in the plastic bag with your book in a bag in it.  Have your child bring it back after September 30th for a prize.  Please add up the total minutes.

Student Education (SEP) Conference will be held during the week of October 1-5, 2018 at Iron Springs Elementary. School will be dismissed at 2:30 on those days. Kindergarten will be held from 8:50 to 10:50 for morning students, and 12:30 to 2:30 for the afternoon students. Wednesday’s schedule is the same as above. This is an excellent time for you to meet and plan with teachers to make your child’s education the best possible experience. We hope your assigned time is convenient for you. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call your child’s teacher.

September 10th - September 14th

Our class did awesome on our first math test, which was on adding numbers up to 10!J  I will send the test home next week.  We are now on chapter 2 in math.  We are learning about subtracting numbers within 10.  Subtracting tends to be more of a difficult concept to learn.  Practice with your child adding and subtracting numbers within 10 to make sure they are grasping these concepts.  Thank you!
